HB 402 has finally been signed into law as of today. HB402 incentivizes employers to hire 16 or 17 year olds in work based learning positions. This legislation allows our students around the State to pursue work rooted in their educational instruction while simultaneously preparing them to enter today’s workforce. It encourages employers to provide work based learning opportunities for high school students by allowing insurance providers to offer a 5% reduction (capped at $2500) in worker’s compensation premiums.
HB402 will become law on July 1, 2016.
Please join me in thanking Lt. Gov. Cagle, Rep. Eddie Lumsden, State Board of Education Chair Mike Royal, the GA Dept.of Education, and GA Dept. of Insurance for all of their hard work to push this legislation to pass.
