Tonya Waller is the Director of Exceptional Children Services in Meriwether County. She brings with her 13 years of experience in the field of education. She has a BS degree in Health Science, a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She has served Meriwether County School System as a Health Educator, a Special Education Case Manager, County Educational Diagnostician, CEIS Coordinator, Assistant Special Education Director and currently oversees the Nursing, MTSS, RTI, 504 and Special Education Programs within her district.
Tonya is married to her husband of 13 years, in which they have 3 beautiful children. Her hobbies include poetry and arts, traveling, devoting time to her faith and providing professional development to teachers. Growing up in the military has left an impressionable mark on her as she takes pride in multi-cultural competence and her ability to work with diverse groups of people. Resilience is a core strength and her ability to adapt to change has helped her to emerge as a strong leader within her community. Currently her time is dedicated to creating positive, supportive learning environments for at risk youth, that include strengthening partnerships with outside agencies to provide supportive mental health wrap around services to students within her district.
Lisa Pate, School Psychologist
Ms. Pate knows how to light up a room with her bright smile and has been dubbed, “California Sunshine” from those who have grown to love her! A California native, Lisa started off working as a School Psychologist in Long Beach, California and surrounding counties in the Los Angeles area and has been doing so for most of her adult life. For the last 15 years, however, the Peach State, has been called home for her and her family. Lisa brings well over 20 years experience with her to the team! She has a passion for working with teachers and students and has dedicated much of her life to helping struggling students succeed!
